Spring Herbal Tea Recommendations: A TCM Practitioner Teaches You How Flower Teas Soothe the Liver, Dispels Dampness, and Relieves Spring Fatigue (With Contraindications)

用乾玫瑰花與蜂蜜沖泡的玫瑰花茶,具疏肝理氣與美顏護膚功效

Last week, we introduced soups for dispelling Dampness and strengthening the Spleen during spring. This week, Practitioner Lee from Yin-Yang TCM Center (To Kwa Wan and Mei Foo clinics) continues to share some simple and practical spring herbal tea remedies with everyone!

I. Why Is Spring the Best Season to Drink Flower Teas?

Spring is the most suitable season for enjoying flower teas. Because flower teas are naturally mild and cooling in nature, combined with their rich, sweet aromatic scent, they can:

  • Promote Yang Qi Generation: Dispel the Cold accumulated in the body throughout winter.

  • Refresh the Mind & Relieve Spring Fatigue: Eliminate the frequent tiredness and drowsiness typical of springtime.

II. Core Principle of Spring Care: Harmonizing Liver Qi with a Focus on "Soothe and Nourish the Liver"

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), "Spring corresponds to the Liver." The Liver's function of smoothing and regulating Qi aligns directly with the "ascending and generating Qi" of spring.

Therefore, spring health care must focus on soothing and nourishing the Liver, ensuring ample Liver Blood and smooth Liver Qi. When choosing spring herbal teas, prioritize flower tea varieties that can soothe, clear, and calm the Liver.
